Exercise and nutrition before, during and after treatment for cancer

Oncology treatment is a journey filled with physical, emotional, and practical challenges. If you are dealing with cancer, you may not be a stranger to fatigue, pain, reduced muscle strength, sleep problems or nutrition difficulties.  A cancer diagnosis can bring a sense of uncertainty related to the future, social isolation for some, and sometimes difficulties in performing daily activities. This can all be very overwhelming.

We aim to make a real difference by addressing these challenges holistically.

  • Joel Simmons is our exercise physiologist with a special interest for anything oncology; he will make a tailored program for you and with you, at any stage in your cancer treatment—before, during, and after. Often exercise is the last thing you want to think about but there a plenty of studies that state that exercise before, during & after can be very beneficial. It can help to rebuild strength, reduce fatigue, and make you feel better.
  • Our dietitian Jen helps to manage nutrition when eating becomes difficult due to potential treatment side effects, supporting energy levels, healing, and overall recovery.
  • Our physiotherapist Joyce can help with pain and joint mobility during and post treatment to help you be able to function better in everyday life.
